On July 10, 1973, the Union Jack was lowered and the Bahamian flag raised to signal the country's independence from the British Crown. Many Bahamians—in speech—use the "v" and "w" interchangeably and drop the "h" in "th" combinations (as is common throughout the Caribbean). This year the Bahama Islands celebrate 44 years of independence, but this tee is timeless: a celebration of a "changing of the guard" and the nuances of Bahamian culture through our dialect.
